1) AMV means Anime Music Video, so the majority of your video should be Anime.

DVDs should be regular data DVDs and not authored

Last year the FTP didn't work so well, so if you are submitting online this year you will have to upload your AMV to a temporary storage site (like sendspace.com).

Format:

Resolution: 720x480
Container: .avi or .mpeg
Codec: Lagarith, Huffyuv, or xvid for .avi
mpeg2 for .mpeg
Framerate: 29.97, progressive only
Audio: 44.1 kHz (stereo preffered)

Judging:

The judging process is simple enough, each judge will "grade" each amv and the amv with the highest average score will win best of show. The amv with the highest average in each category will win the "best amv" for that category. scoring for each section is based on a 10 point scale (0 being bad, 10 being good) here are the scoring sections along with brief explanations:

Sync: How well do the various elements of your video line up with elements of your song?

Technical Merit: The harder your AMV looks like it was to make, the better.

Entertainment: If the video was engaging it will score high here. AMV's that aren't entertaining usually have you thinking, "is it done yet?" during the video

Flow: An AMV with good flow makes you feel like the scenes fit together, almost like it was taken right from the source.

Effort: If you work really hard on a project, even if it isn't the best, people can usually tell that you put a lot of effort into it...same thing applies here.
