3/4/10:
It has been pointed out to me that Sunday the 14th is a very special day for a few reasons.
1: It's pi day! And you get to spend it at AMKE! How fortuitous
2: It's the last day of the con (bummer)
3: Daylight Saving Time starts
So be sure you take this into account when coming on Sunday, or you'll probably end up wondering why the panel you want to go to is empty.
3/1/10:
I suppose I should put this up now before I forget again.
Probably the worst part of any convention is standing in line to register. We at Anime Milwaukee think there is a better way.
This year, you can download the at door reg form. Download, print out, and fill in the form before even getting to the door and you can start having fun with an estimated 9001% less wait time
2/27/10:
13 days left until the con!
Now that that's out of the way, I have some news for you guys.
We have another guest coming for you guys, Chris "Kirbopher" Niosi. He's a cohort of LittleKuriboh, and has done some other pretty cool things too. Check out his bio on the guests page
There's a small error in the schedule. On Friday, the Spoony Bards concert from 4-5pm is actually a Spoony Bards Panel. Their concert is still on from 9-10pm on Friday. I'll fix the scedule as soon as I can.
Finally, the Con Chair and I (because I'm also the Vice Chair) have put together our picks for panels and events we would go to if we weren't running the con. Check them out in this thread
2/20/10:
It's crunch time. We have 3 weeks left until the con!
What's more, we actually have the schedule ready for you guys. I could've put it up a few hours ago, but then it wouldn't have been all colorful and pretty.
Download the schedule from here
Here's a legend for you guys:
yellow = panels and all-day events
green = guest panels and concerts
orange = main events
light purple = anime screening
light blue = blu-ray feature
red = room cleared for setup
and specificly for anime screening:
[D] = english dub
[S] = subtitled
Ratings: NR (not rated), PG, PG-13, Teen, TV-PG, TV-14, TV-MA, ALL, 7+, 13+, 15+, 16+, 17+
2/12/10:
I should probably put dates on these things...so I think I will.
The forums are now fixed, well...more like cloned I guess. Long story short, the forums have moved to animemilwaukee.com/forum (they used to be in /forums.)
All buttons and links on the site should be updated to point to the new forums, and forum registration is open again.
We're getting closer to the con!
Panel sign up is now over. Thanks to everyone who signed up!
We just have to take care of a few things before we can post the day-by-day schedules, but they're not too far off.
Also, there appears to be an issue with the forums. Rest assured that the entire web team for AMKE is aware of the issue and is working to fix it.
Unfortunately, the entire web team only consists of myself at this time. Forum registration is being suspended until I can fix the issue.
Attendee Pre-reg and vendor registration for this year is now over. Thanks to everyone who pre-registered!
In other news, if you're planning to participate in the Cosplay contest, please head over to the Cosplay contest form and fill it out.
If you forget to fill out the form online, paper forms will be available at the con until 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 13
Panel sign up is still going, but there's only 2 more weeks left for panel sign up.
(Oh yeah, the deadline for panel sign up is February 8, 2010)
If you have an awesome idea, submit your idea now! Remember, if your panel is accepted you get free reg
I've been doing a bit of work on the site. As you can probably see, the navigation menu looks a little different.
Everything in the menu is still in the same place as the old menu (Events got some sub-menus, as it was getting quite long.)
The new menu uses Javascript, so please add an exception for www.animemilwaukee.com if you block Javascript.
Also in the new menu, under Events, Media, we have a bunch of trailers to give you guys a sneek peek at what we'll be screening throughout the con. Check them out!
There is a little over 2 weeks left to pre-reg. If you like to save money (and I know that you do because I'm telepathic,) you should head over to the attendee registration page.
Do you like to party? of course you do! Since we have an official hotel this year (which I know you are all staying at...it's that telepathic thing again,)
we can have official room parties (and by we, I mean you.) Go to the new room party page for more info (it even has its own tab, under hotels.)
Last thing for now...is somebody thinking about tacos? I'm picking up a strong taco vibe.
Hey! What's that I see? It looks like a new button, under events, leading to details on the art contest and art auction.
The DJ from last year's dance is returning, and has started a song request thread in the forums. There are some perks to making an advance request, so get your requests in early.
Whew! that took a while to finish up. Vendor and Artist contracts are now up!
(the vendor/artist registration form is at the bottom of the contract.)
More guest bios and pics have been added as well, so you guys should give those a look sometime.
Just a reminder to everyone that AMKE has an official hotel this year that is offering a special rate for congoers.
Check out the hotels page for the link to get the special rate!
Be sure to book your rooms soon before they all fill up.
Anime Milwaukee is sad to say that Sonny Strait will not be coming for 2010, but it isn't all bad news here.
Anime Milwaukee is proud to announce that Todd Haberkorn and Wendy Powell will be returning as guests for AMKE 3.5!
Their bios should be up on the guests page in the next few days.
Also, Anime Milwaukee likes referring to Anime Milwaukee in the third person.
The first pre-reg deadline is coming up!. After Saturday the 31st, pre-reg prices will go up. Register now to get the best price!
I'll also take this opportunity to remind you that the AMV Contest is still accepting entries.
We now have a link to the hotel page that gives you the con rate!
Also, online reg for attendees is now up. Check out the attendee registration page for more details.
The good news just keeps getting better!
Anime Milwaukee is reaching across the pond to bring you the man responsible for Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series, LittleKuriboh!
His Bio and headshot have been added to the guests page.
There seems to be some confusion amongst fans of Vic Mignogna. There have been reports of people saying Vic was going to be at MegaCon instead of Anime Milwaukee.
To set the record straight, the AMKE staff has confirmed with both Vic and Beth, the Con Director of MegaCon, that Vic Mignogna will be attending Anime Milwaukee.
If you know anyone in the Orlando area, send them over to http://www.megaconvention.com/
Staff emails are changing!
We're moving from our yahoo accounts to new @animemilwaukee.com accounts.
Some emails have changed, and some are new. Check out the contacts page for the full list.
Also, we now have an official hotel. Check out the hotels page for more information
Are you a fan of Anime Milwaukee?
Do you want to help out but can't commit to
being a staff member?
Do you like taping random pieces of paper to random people/surfaces?
If you answered yes to any of those questions
(or even if you said no to all,) why not help us spread the word?
To help out, simply download a copy of our official flyer
(Full page (b&w), or quarter page (b&w))
print some copies and stick them in places and
on faces.
Just be sure to get permission first before putting up the flyers (and the part about sticking them on people's faces was a joke. Please don't put the flyers on people's faces.)
The summer is over, and despite having some of our staff on the other side of the world we still managed to get some things done.
The part of our master plan I get to reveal to you today is our current guest list. We are proud to announce that Vic Mignogna, Sonny Strait and Chris Sabat will be coming to Anime Milwaukee.
Head over to the guests page to check out their bios.
Attendee pre-reg is now open! Or, at least the mail-in part is. We're still working on the online reg system, so that isn't available yet.
As a bonus this year, the mail-in pdf registration form can be filled out on your computer and then printed!
In fact this is preferred, but if you feel the urge to fill it out by hand go ahead and do that.
Ideas seem to be flying left and right in the forums. If you have any ideas to make Anime
Milwaukee the best thing ever, sign up on the forums and tell everyone your brilliant
thoughts.
If you're interested in helping out, check out this thread for more details on what we're looking for.
Last business item for now, the navigation bar has been changed a little (just a little).
Hotels now has its own main button, and the information on the dealers and artists pages will be moved to the forums (confirmed vendors/artists and hours).
This was finished a while ago, but the site code has been updated to display properly in Internet Explorer 8
Ahh! my semester is over (save for finals). This semester was a busy one for me, but now that I have some time there are a few things.
First, a big thanks to Bryan Humphrey for coming to Anime Milwaukee and taking pictures for free!
You can check out the gallery here.
Second, we have new forums! Problems with the free host prompted the switch. If you've registered for the forums before you'll have to re-register on the new forums.
The old forums will be kept as an archive.
The Forum button on the navbar now takes you to our new forums.
Lastly, Anime Milwaukee is looking for a new webmaster. Send an email to conchair@animemilwaukee.com if you are interested.
Here are the winners of the Cosplay Contest
(click on the thumbnail to view a much larger version) and AMV Contest
Other pictures coming soon! Check out the pictures and videos posted on the forums as well!

AMKE 2.5 is now a thing of memories, thanks to everyone who came and made the con fun!
After I finish the homework that I've been putting off for the past 4 days I'll post the winners of the AMV and Cosplay Contests.
The forums are fixed, so be sure to sign up and post your experiences and suggestions for next year
If you've lost something at AMKE 2.5, please contact conchair@animemilwaukee.com
Convention Hours:
Fri, Mar 12: 9am - 12am (midnight)
Sat, Mar 13: 8am - 12am
Sun, Mar 14: 8am - 6pm
Convention Rules:
1: Be safe, or be sorry! Please guys, use logic. No horseplay or leapfrog in the hallways.
2: Bathe! Trust us, nobody wants to be crammed into a small room full of people who haven't showered in a few days
3: Be Cleanly! Please put your trash in the garbage and the recyclables in the recycling bins.
4: Be nice to one another, keep in mind that while you are at the school, you are on state property
5: No smoking! All smoking on campus must be done at least 30 ft. away from every door. (This is a Wisconsin state law)
6: You must be registered and have a badge to enter main events and rooms. This will be enforced by the staff members and badgers
7: The convention ends at midnight, which is when the Union closes. After that, you gotta go home! Or to a hotel room. No sleeping at the convention
8: All UW Milwaukee rules must be followed, otherwise you will be asked to leave the convention and you will forfeit your badge
9: No live steel or loose chains. Prop weapons must be no bigger than what can safely fit through a normal doorway. If you can't fit it through the door, don't bring it. Also, UW Milwaukee bans guns on the premises, even if it looks real, it could get taken away. If the University security asks you to put it away, put it away.
